One of the things I love most about in-home newborn photography is that there’s no need to rush.
Sometimes I arrive at a family’s home, and we don’t take our first photograph for 30 or 40 minutes.
Mom might still be finishing hair and makeup or getting dressed. Baby might need to eat. Someone might need a diaper change, and an older sibling might need a little time to warm up.
And you know what? That’s completely fine.
None of that means we’re running behind. It’s simply part of welcoming a new baby, and it’s exactly why my newborn sessions don’t have a time limit.

When I arrive for a newborn session, I’m not expecting everyone to be dressed, ready, and waiting by the door.
While Mom finishes getting ready or baby has another feeding, I might lend a hand, chat with the family, or spend a little time getting to know the older siblings.
Those first few minutes are actually some of my favorites.
There’s no camera in their faces or pressure to smile. We can talk, play, and let everyone get comfortable with having me around.
By the time we start photographing, I’m not quite such a stranger anymore.
And that can make all the difference, especially with little ones.

This sweet Raleigh newborn session was the perfect example of why I love photographing families exactly as they are.
Both big brothers were absolutely thrilled about their new baby sister. But the way they showed that excitement couldn’t have been more different.
Big brother was careful, calm, and ready to follow every direction I gave him. He was so gentle with his baby sister, and you could already see how seriously he was taking his new role.
His younger brother had a little more energy to share!
He was excited, full of movement, and had plenty of his own ideas about how things should go.
And I loved every bit of it.
Neither brother needed to change his personality for us to create beautiful photographs. We simply made room for both.
If you’re worried about how your toddler or older children will behave during your newborn session, I want you to know something.
They don’t have to sit perfectly still.
I can work with a quiet cuddle, an enthusiastic squeeze, a little giggling, or a child who needs to get up and move around.
I’ll always offer gentle direction, but I’m also paying attention to what comes naturally to your family.
Sometimes the photographs you’ll love most come from the moments we couldn’t have planned anyway.
Then we take one!
Your baby doesn’t know we’re having a photography session, and I certainly don’t expect them to follow a schedule.
If your newborn needs to eat, be changed, or spend some time in your arms, that’s what we’ll do.
There’s no need to watch the clock or worry that a feeding is taking too long.
My goal is for your in-home newborn photography experience to feel like a comfortable morning together, not another appointment you have to manage.

Your quiet, careful oldest. Your little whirlwind. The way they both look at their brand-new baby sister.
That’s what I want you to remember.
Not just what everyone looked like, but who they were in this little chapter of your family’s story.
Years from now, I hope these photographs bring you right back to the giggles, the wild energy, the tiny newborn details, and the wonder of having someone new to love.
Because those little personalities are part of the story, too.

You already have enough to manage in those first few weeks with a new baby.
Getting everyone dressed, feeding the baby, adjusting to a new routine, and helping older siblings find their place in it all is a lot.
Watching the clock shouldn’t be one more thing.
That’s why my Raleigh newborn photography sessions are designed to give your family the time and space you need. We’ll create beautiful portraits, but we’ll do it in a way that feels comfortable and natural for everyone.
If you’re expecting a new baby and wondering how a session might work with your growing family, I’d love to help.
Tell me about your growing family, and I’ll help you plan the rest.

From a thoughtfully curated wardrobe and professional hair and makeup to beautiful heirloom artwork, my Raleigh newborn photography experience is designed to take care of all the little details.
I’d love to help you create meaningful portraits of your growing family and turn your favorite moments into artwork you’ll enjoy for years to come.
When your memories live where life happens, they become part of your family’s story, seen every day, touched often, and one day, passed down. They remind your children where they come from and show them how loved they’ve always been.
On your walls, in your hands, always surrounded by love
I believe your memories should live where life happens
