I’ll be honest—when I was pregnant, I didn’t always feel like the glowing goddess people told me I looked like. Between heartburn, naps that never felt long enough, and wondering if I’d ever see my feet again, it was easy to focus on the discomfort. But even on the hardest days, I knew deep down… this was a moment I’d want to remember. That is why maternity portraits matter.
Now, as a mom of two, I treasure the few photos I have from that time. There’s a few in particular that always makes me stop in my tracks—a picture of me, belly and all. I can still feel that moment. And even more special? A photo of my own mother pregnant with me. Every time I look at it, I’m reminded of the unspoken connection that ties one generation to the next.
If she hadn’t printed that image—if it had stayed hidden on a camera roll or never existed at all—I might not have known that side of her. That season. That love.
And that’s why I believe, with my whole heart, that maternity portraits matter.
Pregnancy is messy, miraculous, and over before you know it. You’re growing an entire human. You are feeling them hiccup inside you, planning for their arrival, and maybe even wondering if you’re ready. (Spoiler: You are.)
It’s easy to put off maternity photos. Maybe you’re feeling puffy, or tired, or you think, “I’ll do it next time.” But trust me—this is a time worth celebrating. And there’s something incredibly powerful about stepping in front of the camera and saying, “This is me, right now, in all my strength, softness, and anticipation.”
The way I photograph maternity sessions is simple and gentle. We focus on connection—between you and your growing baby, between you and your partner, and most importantly, with yourself.
I’m not here to stage stiff poses or make you feel anything less than beautiful. Whether we’re shooting outdoors in soft golden light or in the calm of my studio, my goal is to help you feel relaxed, confident, and truly seen.
It’s easy to think of maternity portraits as just a pretty picture of a bump in a flowy dress—but there’s so much more happening beneath the surface. A study looked at everyday women photographing their pregnancies and found something beautiful: these images told honest stories of change, identity, and the emotional reality of becoming a mother. They weren’t just documenting bellies—they were documenting growth, anticipation, and sometimes even struggle. That’s the kind of storytelling I believe in too. Your maternity session isn’t just about how you look—it’s about honoring everything you’re becoming.
It might not seem like it now, but these images aren’t just for your baby—they’re for you. For when your baby isn’t a baby anymore. For the days when you want to remember what it felt like to carry them.
And yes, maybe one day your child will hold those portraits in their hands and say, “That was you? That was me?” and smile. Because they’ll see how loved they were before they even took their first breath.
That’s what happened when I saw that photo of my mom—pregnant with me, smiling in a soft floral dress, unaware of how much I’d love that image one day. That photo connects me to her in a way words never could. It’s more than a picture—it’s part of our story.
The best time for a maternity session is usually between 28 and 34 weeks, when your bump is beautifully round but you’re not too uncomfortable just yet. If you’re past that, don’t worry—there’s still time to create something meaningful.
And because I only take a limited number of maternity clients each month to give each session my full attention, I always recommend booking early—ideally in your second trimester—to secure your spot.
You also have the option to bundle your maternity session with my First Year Membership, which includes newborn and milestone sessions. It’s the perfect way to document baby’s full story from bump to birthday.
Besides the joy of actually slowing down and soaking in the moment, you’ll walk away with images that feel like you. You’ll also have the chance to turn your portraits into something tangible—a fine art print to frame, a keepsake album to flip through on quiet nights, or heirloom artwork to pass down.
These aren’t just images to post on social media (though they’ll look beautiful there too)—they’re pieces of your story you’ll want to hold onto for decades.
Whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, this is your reminder: you deserve to be in the frame.
You deserve to see yourself as the strong, nurturing, radiant woman you are.
To have photos that your children can hold someday.
You deserve to remember this chapter—not just the kicks and cravings, but the quiet love that bloomed before the baby ever arrived.
So if you’re ready to step in front of the lens and create something beautiful—I’m here for you.
