I want you to have more than pictures
I'm Jenna
I want you to have something you can see, touch, and pass down.
Printed memories that remind you how this season felt, and that one day, will tell your story to the ones who come after.

When this mom began planning for her second baby, she knew there was one thing she wanted to do differently this time around: schedule a newborn session.
She hadn’t had professional newborn portraits taken with her first baby, and she wished she had photographs she truly loved from that season. So this time, she planned ahead.
These behind-the-scenes images offer a little peek into what a morning at my North Hills studio can look like—from hair and makeup and choosing wardrobe pieces to a laughing toddler, a sleepy newborn, and the first conversations about how these photographs might eventually live in their home.

One of the things I want most for families walking into my studio is for everything to immediately feel a little easier.
While Mom settled in for professional hair and makeup, we had time to look through wardrobe options and choose pieces for the family.
My studio wardrobe includes clothing for moms, babies, children, and other family members, and I’m there to help pull everything together. We choose soft colors, beautiful textures, and pieces that photograph naturally together without feeling overly coordinated.
You can see that simple palette carried throughout their finished portraits. Nothing distracts from what matters most—their faces, their connection, and that tiny new baby in the middle of it all.
There are drinks and snacks nearby, natural light pouring through the studio windows, and plenty of space to settle in.
There is no need to walk through the door feeling completely ready for photographs.
We have time.

One of my favorite things about these behind-the-scenes photographs is seeing their toddler laughing and having fun.
Because if you have an older sibling coming to your newborn session, you may already be wondering how that part is going to go.
Will they cooperate? Or maybe will they want to hold the baby? Will they stay still long enough for a photograph?
The good news is that they don’t need to do any of those things perfectly.
There is room for movement, breaks, snacks, silliness, and time to warm up. I guide your family throughout the session and look for little opportunities for connection rather than expecting young children to perform for the camera.
Your newborn gets the same flexibility.
We pause for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and cuddles whenever they are needed. Your baby helps determine the pace of the morning.
And with my background as a labor and delivery nurse, caring for newborns is a familiar—and very loved—part of this work.
You don’t need to know how to pose.
You don’t need to know how to hold your baby for the camera.
And you definitely don’t need to figure out how to get everyone looking and smiling at the exact same moment.
That’s what I’m here for.

Then there are the finished photographs.
Soft light.
Tiny fingers and toes.
A toddler leaning into Mom.
A brand-new baby tucked safely into the arms of the people who already love them so much.
These are the photographs I hope bring you right back to this season years from now.
Not just what your baby looked like, but how small they felt in your arms.
How your older child fit beside you.
How your family looked while everyone was still learning this new version of life together.
Because those are the little details that become harder to remember than we think.

The experience doesn’t end once I put my camera away.
After the session, we spent a little time looking through frame corners, albums, and artwork samples in the studio.
There is something different about being able to hold an album in your hands or see the finish of a frame in person. It helps you begin imagining what your own photographs could look like in your home.
You may even notice finished pieces waiting in the studio to be delivered to other families.
This family already knows they would love to frame some of their photographs. At their design and ordering appointment, we’ll look through their favorite images together and decide what makes the most sense for their space.
That might mean framed artwork for the walls, an album filled with the full story of their session, or a combination of both.
You don’t have to figure that part out alone either.
Helping you turn your photographs into something you can actually see and enjoy every day is part of the experience.

From choosing what everyone will wear to keeping your toddler comfortable to deciding what photographs belong on your walls, I’m here to guide you through each part of your newborn session.
If you’re expecting and love the soft, natural style you see here, I would love to help you plan your own newborn session at my North Hills photography studio in Raleigh.
When your memories live where life happens, they become part of your family’s story, seen every day, touched often, and one day, passed down. They remind your children where they come from and show them how loved they’ve always been.
On your walls, in your hands, always surrounded by love
I believe your memories should live where life happens
